“Delusions of Gender” by Cordelia Fine Book Reviews

I read this book for book club and was really looking forward to it based on the description used to pitch the book. Like any good feminist I find the subject of gender and discussions around innate vs conditioned behaviours fascinating. Plus I always like it when somebody takes a good literary swing at common drivel like “Men are from Mars Women are from Venus”. Anyway, although I made it to the end the book was a slog. The author is clearly and academic and the book read like a textbook. It is unfortunate that she didn’t partner with a science write/ journalist to make the book a little more accessible.

Would I recommend? If you’re really committed to this topic there’s some really interesting nuggets in there but be prepared to feel like you’re back in a Sociology 300 course.
